Proverbs Chapter 21

13 “Whoever shuts their ears to the cry of the poor, will also cry out and not be answered.”

This verse stood out for me because recently in church we have been talking about praying for the needy and giving our time and money willingly.

This sentiment is followed on in verse 26: “the righteous give without sparing.”

30 “There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan, that can succeed against the LORD.”

I like this verse as I feel sometimes we can plan things for the future without considering that God may have a different plan for our lives, and ultimately his plan is the one that we should follow.

For me, chapter 21 has special significance because of what I read in my UCB notes just about a week before we started this 31 Proverbs series.
Here’s what it said, ” It’s said if you can do something consistently for 21 days you have proven that you can do it for 21 years. Will you slip at times? Sure, you’re human. But once you have tasted success it’s hard to be satisfied with less. Jesus said, “If you continue in my Word, then you are truly disciples of mine” Your success can be found in your daily routine. If you’re serious about changing your life you must stop practicing bad habits and start instituting good ones”

I hope this encourages some of you who have maybe never had a bible reading habit before or have been a bit hot and cold. It looks like we’ve now got to the stage where we can now call this a habit. So let’s keep at it :-)

Imagine the horror of ‘crying out’ and not being answered. Is this a glimpse of Hell? Your post today has driven home to me the importance of “praying for the needy and giving our time and money willingly”… It’s making me reassess my priorities. Thanks
    PS – Love the image!

again in verse 23 it tells us to guard our tongues. We have to be careful what our tongue says, we can, with a careless word hurt other people unknowingly. So watch what we say. God hears every word that comes out of our mouths.
