The verses that I found most challenging in today’s chapter were all about words…and more importantly their consequences.
Truthful lips endure for ever (v19) and the Lord delights in men who use them (v22). The words of wisdom we have learned also have the ability to rescue (v6), give honest testimony (v17) and bring healing! (v18)
So the challenge for us all today is, what are we going to do with the wisdom we have acquired and discussed? In James we read, “do not merely listen to the word… do what it says.”
(v25) “An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up.”
Who could you encourage today?

Again in this chapter the wisdom of our words is the main theme. Either we can build someone up with our words or we can bring someone down. With our children we have to be careful the words we use, in so many families parents can forget to praise their children and in many cases put them down which can have a lifetime affect. So today if you are a parent say something to encourage your children.
“Whoever loves discipline, loves knowledge”.
So much of what we’re asked to do requires the Holy Spirits help. Loving discipline and correction is unnatural. But when we look back and see where we’ve come from, how Gods correction has resulted in growth and life, we end up seeking more of it.
Thankful for the Spirit today. For making the supernatural natural. As well as giving us the wisdom to grow and seek growth.
I Love this post. Its challenging and the pic is a great laugh.
Great post today again.agree with Laura we need to praise our children more.challenging…
Good ppoint – “A fool shows his annoyance at once, but a prudent man overlooks an insult”- it’s so easy just to say what we think when someone annoys us our does something wrong. Much harder to bite your tongue and weigh things up before reacting – and perhaps realising that the best thing to say is nothing. I know I’ve “gone off” with people, and realised afterwards that what I said didn’t help, may have made things worse, and can’t be taken back. I hope I can remember these words when such situations arise in future. (Before I opne my mouth!!)
I enjoyed this blog today and certainly found it very challenging. It’s important to think about how we can use the wisdom we acquire. I hope the changes we are being encouraged to make in our lives last much longer than the month of march!
I love it all….
Who would you encourage today?
I would encourage everyone who has been reading along so far.
I have had some great chats with people who haven’t commented here but have been really encouraged and helped by the blog posts.
Ultimately it is exciting that Gods word is being read.
Isaiah 55v10 says
“The rain and snow come down from the heavens
and stay on the ground to water the earth.
They cause the grain to grow,
producing seed for the farmer
and bread for the hungry.
It is the same with MY WORD.
I send it out, and it always produces fruit.
It will accomplish all I want it to,
and it will prosper everywhere I send it.”
Some great posts today.Encouraging.
Another great post, and who could I encourage today? ……. I would like to encourage everyone who has been involved in the planning and organising of this Bible reading/study project! For having the foresight & wisdom to see the spiritual growth and benefits this would bring to many in our congregation, including myself, and beyond. Thank you all!
Yes Ally well said
